Lens Distortion

Straighten a plate or bend it back, with overscan.

Warps footage to remove lens distortion, or to put it back. This is how CG and plate get reconciled, since renderers draw perfectly straight lines and real lenses don't.

Inputs

Two lens sources, and connecting one hides the other:

Outputs

Image Sequence carries the warped frames onward. There's also an Import as Footage button if you'd rather have a clip.

Auto Track passes the solve through, and only exists in Auto Track mode. The Output 3D node walks back through it to build the overscan camera, so keep it connected when you want that.

Mode

Undistort straightens the plate. This is the usual direction.

Distort bends an already-straight sequence, for delivering distorted frames by hand.

Fit Mode

Straightening pushes the corners outward, so something has to give.

Auto Overscan is the safe default. Overscan also gives CG somewhere to exist outside the original frame, which matters once the render is bent back.

Interpolation

Bicubic is the standard for plate warps. Lanczos keeps the most detail but can ring on hard edges. Linear is fast and slightly soft.

Use Nearest for masks and data images, where blending pixel values would be wrong.

Other Settings

Output format is PNG, JPEG or EXR.

Fisheye (Equidistant) reads the coefficients as a fisheye model.

Focal px, CX, CY override what the solve produced when you have better numbers.

Reformat resizes after the warp and overscan, not before.

Buttons

Preview Current Frame checks one frame. Process Footage runs the sequence.
